00:00 "Yeah, I think he was talking about me too. That's awkward."
00:03 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for all the times John Krasinski
00:08 memorably brought some of our favorite animated, or silhouetted, characters to life.
00:13 "I learned everything I know from my school, Monsters University."
00:17 Number 10. Cuthbert - Monsters vs. Aliens
00:22 When an alien menace named Galaxar threatens to take over Earth, who you gonna call?
00:26 A ragtag team of monsters, of course. Krasinski voices Cuthbert,
00:31 a man whose date with a woman named Katie is interrupted when Galaxar lands on Earth.
00:35 "I have a gymnastics meet tomorrow, so maybe, uh, did you open the top?
00:40 Oh, thank goodness, it's the police. We weren't doing anything, officer!"
00:47 "Yeah, nothing at all."
00:48 Is interrupted even the right word? Katie seems far more into this date than Cuthbert,
00:52 so perhaps the spaceship's arrival was perfect timing. Krasinski's character is hilariously
00:58 nervous and doesn't fare well in the face of the unknown.
01:01 "Why did I even let you talk me into this? Maybe we should get out of here."
01:05 "Or maybe we should go check it out."
01:07 "Katie, are you nuts? Wait! Don't leave me alone!"
01:11 He excellently bounces off Renee Zellweger's confident and curious Katie,
01:15 with perfect comedic charm.
01:17 "No! My ankle! I think it's broken! Katie?"
01:22 "This is the worst date ever."
01:27 Who knows what fate had in store for these two? Something tells us it wasn't another date.
01:31 Number 9. 7723 Next-Gen
01:36 Next-Gen takes us into a futuristic world where robots are as common as smartphones.
01:41 In this animated adventure, Krasinski lends his voice to 7723,
01:45 an experimental robot who forms an unlikely friendship with a kid named May Sue.
01:49 "Hello." "What? Hey, oh my god."
01:52 "What's your name?" "Stupid robot."
01:53 "Hello, stupid robot. What's this for?" "No, you're the stupid robot."
01:59 "I'm the stupid robot."
02:00 Together, they embark on a world-saving mission. Think of it as Netflix's answer to Big Hero 6.
02:06 Krasinski brings 7723 to life with warmth, humor, and plenty of heart.
02:11 "I just delete a few memories every night. That way I don't lose them all."
02:14 "How do you know which ones to keep?" "Well, I keep the important ones."
02:21 In fact, he makes 7723 feel like more than a robot. He becomes a friend, a confidant,
02:26 and a source of genuine empathy in a world of wires and circuits.
02:30 His performance adds an irresistible magnetism to the film that captivates audiences of all ages.
02:36 "I've got your back." "I got your back."
02:43 Number 8. Khalim, The Prophet
02:46 In this animated gem, based on Khalil Gibran's book, Krasinski plays Khalim,
02:51 a soldier watching over Mustafa, a foreign artist and activist put under house arrest.
02:56 Khalim strikes up a bond with Mustafa, the housekeeper, and her daughter,
03:00 who's deeply affected by her father's passing.
03:02 "I know everyone sees me as this self-assured,
03:06 dauntless, impenetrable fortress of strength."
03:10 Together, they try to save Mustafa when he's arrested again for his controversial writings.
03:15 Krasinski's humor adds a nice touch to the heartfelt story
03:18 without overshadowing its deeper meanings.
03:21 "Hey there, boys. Anybody want to see some of my French postcards?"
03:26 There's a lot to love about this film, from its breathtaking animation,
03:30 touching plot, and captivating cast of characters.
03:33 It's a beautiful story, and Krasinski's Khalim helps shine a light on its uplifting message.
03:38 "To love and freedom!"
03:40 "To freedom!"
03:42 "To love?"
03:46 Number 7. Secretariat - BoJack Horseman
03:49 Krasinski's voice talents aren't limited to the big screen.
03:52 Take Robot Chicken, for instance, where he lends his voice to characters like
03:56 the commercial director Mike Brady in an episode called "Secret of the Fleshed Footlong."
04:00 "Back to one. The line is flame broiled. Okay, buddy? Oh, and use your spit bucket."
04:06 "But I like cheeseburgers!"
04:07 "Suit yourself. Action!"
04:08 And let's not forget his role as a squirrel Gilbert in an American Dad spoof
04:12 of What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
04:14 "Gilbert, I told you, your brother can't keep biting through utility lines."
04:18 "He won't, Jerry. I promise."
04:19 Yet perhaps his standout TV voice gig is his two-episode stint on BoJack Horseman.
04:25 Here, he plays Secretariat, a character inspired by a real-life racing legend.
04:30 "BoJack, when you get sad, you run straight ahead, and you keep running forward
04:35 no matter what. There are people in your life who are gonna try to hold you back,
04:39 slow you down, but you don't let them."
04:41 Krasinski nails the balance between Secretariat's outward charm and inner struggles,
04:45 perfectly capturing the essence of what also makes the show's titular character so relatable.
04:50 "I'm just an athlete. I'm no hero. My brother, Jeffretariat, is the hero."
04:55 Number 6. Owen Huntington - Animal Crackers
04:58 This movie is truly crackers. In it, a family unexpectedly inherits a struggling circus,
05:04 only to stumble upon its secret to success - a magical box of animal crackers.
05:09 "What? Owen? He's a what?" "Aaah! I'm a hamster! Holy moly, holy moly,
05:15 holy moly, holy moly."
05:16 Krasinski voices Owen, the main guy who's as quick with jokes as he is with saving the circus
05:20 and guarding those crackers from the wrong hands.
05:23 This role truly allows him to showcase his incredible range as an actor.
05:27 "That looks like a fishbowl." "Take it easy, horsey."
05:30 "Excuse me, I'm not doing this." "I'm gonna be killed."
05:32 "Says who?" "Says physics!"
05:34 "A thousand pound horse landing in a very small pole at 150 miles per hour equals s-"
05:38 In an impressively star-studded cast, Krasinski's scenes with real-life wife
05:42 Emily Blunt add an extra sparkle to every moment they share. Even when they're just
05:47 riffing off each other, their chemistry is so charming that the filmmakers kept it in the final movie.
05:52 "Eat, eat apples and bananas. They're way better than cookies. They're apples and bananas."
06:01 "And the best option right now."
06:02 Number 5. Silhouetted Gamer - Free Guy
06:07 In this action-packed comedy, we meet Guy, an everyday guy who discovers that he's,
06:12 in fact, not just a regular guy.
06:14 "Wait! I can explain everything! I found these glasses and then I can see things now!
06:20 Things that- things that aren't there! Except they are there!"
06:25 He's a background character in this massive online game called Free City.
06:29 Since several in-game characters wear face coverings, Ryan Reynolds, the star and co-producer,
06:34 had a fun idea to spice things up with some celebrity voice cameos.
06:38 "Are you serious with the vacuum right now? You really have to do that here?
06:42 I'm saying my catchphrase, everybody's watching! God!"
06:44 "You're 22 living in my house, there is no God!"
06:47 "Sorry, Guy."
06:48 Alongside Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Tina Fey, and Hugh Jackman,
06:51 Krasinski adds his voice to the mix. He plays a mysterious gamer who boasts about his achievements,
06:57 though his appearance is short. Krasinski's cameo brings a delightful and humorous touch to the movie.
07:02 "I used to shoot all the secondary characters when I was born, you know."
07:07 Number 4. Kiro Honjo - The Wind Rises
07:11 The Wind Rises tells the fictionalized tale of Jiro Horikoshi,
07:15 the mastermind behind Japan's World War II fighter planes.
07:18 "Oh, let's go see the assembly floor."
07:19 "Could we maybe have lunch first? Maybe Kurokawa simply hates you.
07:24 Why else would he have you design that strut on your first day?"
07:27 Caught between his dreams of flying and the grim reality of war,
07:31 he finds solace in his friendship with Kiro Honjo, voiced by Krasinski in the English dub.
07:35 As Jiro dreams big, Honjo keeps him grounded, reminding him of the challenges they face.
07:41 "They told me today."
07:42 "That's great."
07:44 "The fact is, this poor country pays us a lot of money to design warplanes.
07:50 Embrace the irony."
07:51 Their banter adds a light touch to the weighty themes of the film.
07:54 Honjo offers a refreshing perspective on his friend's aviation dreams,
07:58 and enriches Jiro's world with a different viewpoint.
08:01 It can sometimes get heavy, but Krasinski and the cast know how to stir up all of our feels.
08:07 "Well, you'll get it. You already left the Germans behind. I'm still stuck with them.
08:12 This design is classic Jiro, right down to the macro bones."
08:18 Number 3. Kal-El, Clark Kent, and Superman - DC League of Super Pets
08:24 Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
08:26 No, it's John Krasinski doing a super job of voicing Krypto's owner, Superman.
08:31 "During rush hour? Well, that's like me flying to Mars."
08:34 "What? You can fly?"
08:36 "I always thought the cape was just a cute accessory."
08:38 "Oh, so you think I'm cute."
08:40 The character has been shown in many ways across countless mediums,
08:44 so it can be difficult to make him stand out.
08:47 Well, unless you're Krasinski.
08:48 He captures the classic heroic essence of Superman,
08:51 while also bringing the character down to earth with some subtle humor.
08:55 "I'm finally gonna be stronger than that stupid-"
08:57 "You're not talking about me, are you?"
08:59 "Yeah, I think he was talking about me too. That's awkward."
09:04 Plus, his connection with Krypto, his on-screen bestie, is just perfect.
09:08 Even though Superman isn't the central character,
09:11 Krasinski brings surprising layers to his performance.
09:14 Still, what we love most is how he uses his comedic background
09:17 for a fun take on the character.
09:19 "One more thing."
09:21 "Oh, wow, look at that. I did have this whole thing planned, but-"
09:30 "Oh, no, please. This is exactly how I always pictured it."
09:32 Number 2. Frightening Frank McKay - Monsters University
09:36 The actor may have only had a small role in the Monsters, Inc. sequel.
09:40 However, you could argue that he played one of the most important characters
09:43 in the entire franchise. Why?
09:46 Well, in Monsters University, we see a flashback to Mike Wazowski's
09:50 first trip to Monsters, Inc. on a school field trip.
09:53 "This is where we collect the scream energy to power our whole world.
09:57 And can anyone tell me whose job it is to go get that scream?"
10:01 "Scarer!"
10:02 "That's right!"
10:03 That's where he meets Frightening Frank McKay,
10:06 one of the company's top scarers, who sparks his lifelong dream
10:09 of becoming a scarer himself.
10:11 "Fear Tech's the best."
10:13 "Okay, you guys watch us and tell me which school's the best."
10:16 "Alright?"
10:16 "MU is."
10:18 In this short scene, Krasinski wins over not just young Mike,
10:22 but also pretty much everyone watching.
10:25 If Monstropolis could run on charisma and friendliness alone,
10:28 McKay would be its powerhouse for life.
10:31 "That was real dangerous, kid. I didn't even know you were in there."
10:34 "Wow. I didn't even know you were in there. Not bad, kid."

11:00 Number 1. Lancelot - Shrek the Third
11:03 Did you know that Krasinski voiced the medieval high school jerk?
11:07 Oh, sorry, jock.
11:08 "Arty, a king? More like the mayor of Loserville."
11:14 So far, we've mostly seen him as these likable characters that are easy to root for.
11:18 However, somehow, he also nails the more arrogant knucklehead on the jousting field.
11:23 And surprisingly, we still want to cheer for him.
11:26 "So what for liker are you supposed to be?
11:28 Some kind of giant mutant leprechaun or something?"
11:31 "Oh, ho, ho, ho, giant mutant leprechaun. You made a funny."
11:36 In this Shrek installment, he's initially mistaken for Arthur,
11:39 the dweebish heir to the far, far away throne.
11:42 Honestly, they don't give Krasinski enough screen time in that role.
11:45 He totally steals the spotlight with every line he delivers.
11:49 "Classic. You should be ashamed of yourself."
11:52 "I didn't do it. They did."
11:55 Every time we watch the movie and hear his voice, we can't help but give a little huzzah.
11:59 What's your favorite John Krasinski voice acting performance?
12:02 It would be great if you shared them in the comments.
12:05 "Thanks for doing this."
