An assistant officer serving the Melaka Statistics Department claimed trial at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court to six counts of alleged misappropriation of property and false claims amounting to RM85,000.

The plea of Norrul Huda Marsidin, 40, was recorded before Judge Elesabet Paya Wan on Friday (May 17).

00:08 Kero Sessions Court on Friday to six charges of submitting false claims and misappropriating
00:13 property amounting to almost R85,000 three years ago. On the first three charges, Norul
00:21 Huda Marsi Dean was alleged to have submitted three invoices from FIS Gemilang Enterprise
00:27 dated November 22, 2021, containing fraudulent details for the supply of food and drinks
00:35 totalling R6,640, where the supply was never made. The charges were framed under Section
00:42 18 of the MACC Act 2009. Those found guilty face a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine
00:51 of not less than five times the falsified sum, or R10,000, whichever is higher. For
00:57 the fourth to sixth charges, the 40-year-old reportedly misappropriated funds belonging
01:03 to the Malacca Department of Statistics and a youth association for her personal use amounting
01:09 to over R18,000 and R59,400 respectively between December 2021 and November 2022. The charges
01:20 were framed under Section 403 of the Penal Code which provides imprisonment for up to
01:26 five years and with whipping and fine if found guilty. The court allowed bail at R20,000
01:34 with one surety and fixed June 26 for mention. The accused was also ordered to report herself
01:40 at the Malacca MACC office and surrender her passport to the court.
