Electronic prescription company MediSecure hacked

An investigation is underway after a large-scale hack of electronic prescriptions company MediSecure.

00:02 We do understand it to be isolated and we don't believe it affects any other health department,

00:07 any other medical provider. So Australians can still use their scripts.

00:10 If, as we investigate and continue to rapidly work across the details of this incident,

00:16 if we find that there are issues that we need to advise Australians of personal information being

00:20 exposed, we will advise that and provide a pathway to rectify and support those individuals.

00:26 There are plenty of things that every Australian can do. We have an Act Now,

00:28 Stay Secure campaign at the moment. Update your passwords, multi-factor authentication,

00:34 update your software, complex passwords. But we'd be naive to think that we won't continue

00:39 to be targeted and a big part of that is ensuring that we as a nation are resilient and ready to

00:43 respond. We have convened the National Coordination Mechanism and we're working every opportunity

00:48 that we have to understand and prepare to respond to any such breach.
