Rock A Nore Fisheries in Hastings, East Sussex, opens a new shop and restaurant in Kings Road, St Leonards

Sonny's of Rock-A-Nore in Kings Road, St Leonards, is now open Tuesday to Saturday 9-4.

00:00We've been in the Old Town for 50 years. It's a family-run business. It's my husband's family

00:07business. It was his parents that started it and he's carried it on. We smoke our own

00:14fish. We buy as much local as we can and we've decided to expand in St Leonard's because

00:20it's an up-and-coming place and we're doing really well. We've got our fish counter in

00:25here but we also serve food, fish. We do, from the counter, a lot of our smoked stuff,

00:31local stuff, whatever's available that week we put on the menu and we open 9am to 4pm,

00:40Tuesday to Saturday. We would always buy quality fish. We would never take the cheaper stuff

00:47we always like. We pay for the better fish so you'll always get good quality and that's

00:54how we've grown our business and that's why we're very popular in the Old Town. We've

00:58got a lovely chef in the kitchen, Lily, who's local as well and we're also going to be upgrading

01:06our shop in the Old Town and putting a restaurant in down there. We've got the planning permission

01:11to do that. That'll be in the next year or so, that'll be happening. So yeah, we're just

01:17trying to build the business, expand it. We'll be doing takeaway food, beach food, all sorts

01:24of things in the future so watch this space!
