Matildas Lydia Williams announces football retirement

The Matildas goalkeeper will retire from international football after the Paris 2024 Olympics.

00:10 appreciation and peace, I'm announcing my international footballing retirement to be

00:17 concluded at the end of the Paris Olympics in August.

00:21 It's been a wonderful ride over the last 19 years and I'm so thankful for the opportunity

00:28 to not only wear the crest and perform for my country, but also to the wonderful memories

00:35 and fantastic people that I've met along the way.

00:39 I've always wanted to leave the game better than when I first came in it and I hope that

00:46 I've had a hand in that to build footballing in this country and especially with the Matildas.

00:53 I love the team and I love the girls and I'm going to miss them so much and I just hope

00:58 that the level of support and love shown to the Matildas and to each and every single
