00:00How do you feel about Christian Paul and Steve Porter's performance?

00:05Tough game. They're fighting for their lives, we all know that. They're fighting a good

00:11fight as well, considering where everyone thought they were going to be at the beginning

00:14of the season. They're still in there and that can be difficult to play against and

00:17I thought it was, credit to them. They played a lot of dyags and longer passes which can

00:22hurt you and they're testing, I've got no problem with that. I thought actually the

00:25resilience of the side was on show again and I think that's improved in my time from being

00:29here. The mentality was excellent, I thought, because they're bombarding the box towards

00:34the end and I thought some of the blocks, some of the will and desire to make sure we

00:37at least got a point was pleasing. I don't think we really played as well as we can do

00:41on our side of the game. Punches in the first half and I thought we controlled the ball

00:45well and controlled the game well, but we lost our way a bit second half. That can happen.

00:50As I said, there's a big atmosphere here for the right reasons to try and get something

00:54from the game. So, overall we've asked a lot of these players, I'm not going to over-question

00:57it, but I'm always greedy for more. So, we want more.

01:03Despite the resilience in the last stoppage time, you've had six shots in a tie with

01:09Jarrett Brown, Quaker, Jack Harris, who have thrown themselves in front of their methods.

01:13Bearing in mind that Evan are obviously safe now, how satisfied is it for you that even

01:16with survival not on the line, in the closing stages of a game like that, those players

01:20are willing to do that for the team?

01:22A lot of people remarked in the past that games like that go against the side and I

01:28think we've shown this season that it doesn't always. I think we're building on that.

01:31The mentality side of it, I've mentioned it a lot since I've been here and I think it's

01:34very important and valid and that was on show tonight. The balance is the challenge. The

01:39balance between defending well and defending hard as we did tonight, but then finding that

01:42balance to go and cause trouble at the other end. That was slightly off tonight, but the

01:47mentality at the side has grown, I think, hugely over the season and that's been shown

01:51even with the heart back to an ugly night. Since then, the response to that and the belief

01:57in the side to deliver has been outstanding really. Like I say, it's a tough one tonight.

02:01Don't over-question us. I'd prefer to praise Luton for the fact that they're still in there

02:05fighting and they're working very hard to see if they can stay in the Premier League.

02:08So, credit to them.

02:09How important do you think former Everton player Ross Barkley was to Luton's threat

02:13to name?

02:14Yeah, he's done well this season. There's a number of players for them who have done

02:17well, I think, this season. Like I say, they're in the shelter of staying in the Premier League.

02:25My former club, we've had a couple of seasons like this. It's difficult. As the season gets

02:29on, it's harder. I spoke to Rob, we met at a function and I said to him, I said, in my

02:34experience, I found that as the season draws into a close, the freedom goes a little bit

02:39because it becomes more real and more pressurised. At the beginning of the season, when you're

02:44a smaller concern in the sense of the Premier League and no-one's really wondering whether

02:48you can do it, it's free every week. It's a free hit. But towards the end, it's not

02:52such a free hit. And that can play with the psyche. I think they've done well tonight

02:55to see through that and deliver a performance. It's a little bit nervy and I thought we capitalised

03:00on that. But as the game went on, I thought they really took it on and it was a fair play to them.

03:04Just on the penalty, do you think Everton should play any more?

03:08I think the one with Beto is a tough one to call. You've got a chance. The one with Dwight,

03:14you've heard me speak about this. I think when the feet are raised and you get a tap on your leg,

03:18I don't know how it can make you go down, but his foot's planted. And when you get a planted

03:21foot and someone stands on you, you can't run, you can't move. So I'd suggest that that one

03:25would be a penalty. We know my record's awful, actually, for many years getting penalties.

03:31I don't know how, but it still is. But I think that one's got a chance. I must say that.

03:37But the third one is a maybe for me. A tussle with two players, you might get it, but

03:45I'm not always thinking they should be given. But the one on Dwight,

03:48we've had a couple of Doms, Bournemouth, when he's got a planted leg and someone kicks you,

03:54that can make you go down because you're planted. But the one when you've got your foot in the air

03:57and you get a tap, I don't think that makes players obese. The balance, the poise, the

04:03strength they have, that's likely to make you go down. But when your foot's planted,

04:07if you get stood on, there's a chance where it should be. I think that should be a penalty.

04:14You're clearly aware, speaking full of admiration for

04:17just how gluten have fought all season and still are fighting.

04:21Of the three that are still in the mix, given that you're not safe,

04:24do you have any feelings on who deserves a set of seatbelts?

04:28No, no one would care about us at Everton Football Club when we were down there last

04:31season, last game of the season. So they'll have to fight it out. We had to fight it out last

04:36season. We had to take care of ourselves. All the clubs will have to fight it out. We've

04:39took care of ourselves again this season with many, many challenges. I'm very proud of that.

04:44But no, it's not for choosing ifs and buts and maybes and sides because

04:48I've been down there myself. You have to take care of yourself. They don't know who gives you

04:51anything and you have to take care of yourself. So they've all got to fight it out and see who

04:56can get the job done. Does the track suit stay?

04:59I know, yeah. It's strange. It keeps making a talking point. I think that's my fifth game or

05:03fourth or fifth game with it. But I don't know. I'm not really that bothered about it, to be

05:06honest, but it keeps coming up. I'll decide at the minute. I feel quite comfortable in it, not

05:10just because we're winning, but there's a practical side of life, you know, not carrying a suit around

05:14everywhere, not keep getting changed and all that sort of stuff. Maybe, maybe. My mum does prefer

05:20me in a suit, but that's the way mums are in my generation of life.
