George Bennett on potential summer interest in Walsall's Isaac Hutchinson

George Bennett discusses Issac Hutchinson's season on the final episode of the Bescot Beat.

00:00In terms of his future, is it going to be very, very difficult to keep hold of a player like Hutchinson?

00:08Would you be surprised if he wasn't going to be attracting attention this summer?

00:12Well, I think the statistics will kind of, you know, attract attention, attract interest.

00:18I mean, 15 goals and 12 assists is a hell of a return.

00:23And, you know, we alluded there to kind of his hat trick show against Gillingham.

00:28And there's been plenty of other standout performances.

00:31And perhaps consistency is the only criticism you can kind of aim at him, to be honest.

00:37But, you know, he'll finish that season, be tremendously pleased.

00:42I think he's almost doubled his tally from last season.

00:44So, you know, looking at his two seasons at Walsall, there's been a kind of,

00:49he's represented an upward trajectory.

00:51And you hope that if he is there next season, that he can only build on that.

00:55But, you know, as a young player himself, I think he's only 24.

00:59Who knows what the future holds?

01:01Walsall fans will be hoping that, you know, they can keep hold of him.

01:05And, you know, if he did go, that they'll be holding out for a good fee,

01:09because this is the importance of, you know, extending contracts with players like Hutchinson,

01:14like we've seen with other players who have also signed new deals.

01:17It's not just keeping them at the club, but if that kind of opportunity,

01:23or probably opportunity is the wrong word, situation arises where a club does come in for them,

01:29then at least they're financially protected to get a fee,

01:31rather than kind of losing them at the end of the season,

01:33which is exactly the position you don't want to be in, and happens a lot at this level.

01:38So that's one thing that at least Walsall are protected in.

01:41But, of course, fans will hope that they've got him there next season,

01:46because although at times there has been inconsistencies, his return of goals has clearly been crucial.
