Bondi candlelight vigil for stabbing victims

A candlelight vigil was held in honour of the victims of the Bondi Junction stabbing tragedy on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Dolphin Court, Bondi Beach.

00:32 To remember them, our candles held against the darkness.

00:37 And we offer the condolences of this community, our city, our state, and our entire nation

00:45 to all who loved them the most.

00:48 As we keep this vigil for the six souls we have lost,

00:52 we keep a place in our heart for everyone affected.

00:57 All those who were injured, all those caring for them,

01:02 the people still in hospital and those taking the first steps on the hard road to recovery.

01:09 Survivors carrying the invisible scars of trauma and of fear.

01:15 We think of Inspector Amy Scott, who ran towards danger.

01:20 The security guards who made that same courageous choice.

01:24 The first responders who acted with such speed and skill.

01:29 And the everyday people who could never have imagined they would face such a moment.

01:35 And yet when that sternest test arrived, their first instinct was to help others,

01:42 at risk for themselves, people that they did not know.
