05:11 finally make the big bike move that we've all expected him to make and want him to make

05:16 in one of these PTO or T100 Tour.

05:18 >> Kitt, since the start of this run, again, we haven't watched him the whole time, but

05:24 They did mention that you couldn't just have it in there.

05:27 You had to -- if it was water, you had to at least take it out, you know, to take a

05:30 drink.

05:31 >> I'm under the impression that it does have to be for hydration.

05:35 So it has to have water in it or any fluid in it.

05:39 >> He is still tactically doing it in a very smart way whilst putting down what would be

05:46 some very impressive numbers.

05:48 But we're seeing another athlete get lapped.

05:50 And this is crazy.

05:51 >> I believe they're up to 14th position now.

05:54 So they've basically lapped, you know, five or six guys.

05:58 >> Riding their way into the top ten almost.

06:02 >> There's no shame in being lapped on this course.

06:05 >> Yeah, that's quite mind-blowing.

06:08 >> Oh, no.

06:09 That's Bradley Weiss.

06:10 >> That hurts me to see.

06:12 He's come from South Africa.

06:14 He's come a long way.

06:15 He was always going to face an uphill battle on this kind of course.

06:18 Being such a light athlete, he looks like he's in pain in his back.

06:23 And, yeah, he's definitely pulled a hamstring or something.

06:28 He's not walking well.

06:30 And that's cost him a couple of seconds.

06:32 But Sam Laidlow has just worked 72 kilometers to close a gap that he never had.

06:39 Mentally, that would be something you would want to block out at this stage.

06:45 But, you know, he's here.

06:47 And I think he's ready.

06:49 And he's ready to put down a solid.

06:52 >> Yeah, and for those new to triathlon, the latter stages of the bike,

06:56 as they're getting ready for the run, they do take their feet out of the shoes.

07:00 And they'll continue to ride into transition.

07:03 And there will be a line where they cannot cross.

07:05 They have to have both feet on the ground before they hit that dismount line.

07:09 If they cross that line, there is a penalty.

07:11 But all the men adhering to that rule.

07:14 And these first steps are usually a little ginger.

07:17 But these men making it look easy.

07:19 >> This is my favorite five minutes of any T100 race.

07:23 This last kilometer on the bike into the first kilometer off the run.

07:27 We saw Alistair Brownlee, he hopped off the bike, looked a little bit ginger.

07:30 He's all over the place trying to put his bike in there due to the effort he's just put in.

07:34 But what we see now is these four.

07:36 >> What a ride this man has taken us on.

07:39 As predicted, Sam Lalo out the front because he had the socks on already.

07:44 So that disadvantage, that's cost him a long way.

07:46 >> And remember, they're doing a loop around here.

07:49 I want to make sure they're running the wrong way right now.

07:51 But it's because they're going to catch up to get to the exact seven-lap distance that they need to get.

07:56 >> They're trying to cool off.

07:58 And a problem there.

08:00 >> Wow.

08:01 >> Having ice.

08:02 >> Went back for ice.

08:03 >> Stopped for ice.

08:04 >> And you can see it is hot out there.

08:06 Alistair grabbed an ice towel, and he was disgusted with it about ten seconds later.

08:11 He was just doing nothing.

08:13 And you could literally see the spires in his face.

08:16 >> That we could have an eye out for as well that show, hey, Alistair's hurting here, or is he pretty hard to read?

08:23 >> Alistair is -- I think his body language is clearly indicative.

08:28 You can tell when his head goes slightly to the side.

08:31 There was one of the famous events where he managed to push his limit far beyond.

08:38 >> When does Alistair Brownlee realize that Ditliff has not only caught him, but he has to start thinking about second and third.

08:46 Who's behind him that I've got to try to stay in front of if I want to be on the podium here?

08:52 >> He started thinking about that already.

08:54 >> Away from Alistair Brownlee.

08:57 Brownlee watches him go by.

08:59 And now what can Ditliff do to set the pace to where he can't be caught?

09:05 >> Well, let's see.

09:06 I mean, Alistair has got to spring in his step.

09:08 He is trying to keep up.

09:09 We'll see how long it lasts.

09:11 But I am honestly -- I'm just glad that everything seems to be performance related.

09:15 >> Ditliff was able to get by Alistair Brownlee.

09:17 He's got 18 seconds on him.

09:20 Mattis Mugerjie is 45 seconds back from Ditliff but hasn't been showing the speed that we're seeing out of Sam Long.

09:28 That's why we're watching and making sure that if Sam Long is coming, we want to make sure to see that gap close.

09:35 And if this ends up being a sprint, Sam Long looks very strong right there on screen.

09:40 This is for second.

09:42 Sam Long taking second away from Brownlee.

09:45 Now does he have enough in the tank to get Ditliff?

09:50 >> Mattis Mugerjie coming up on Brownlee's shoulder, too.

09:54 You just hate to see -- this is devastating.

09:58 Alistair Brownlee was so -- you know, we thought calculated on the bike.

10:02 He was right there with Mugerjie.

10:04 The whole top ten for the majority of the bike ride.

10:07 Obviously didn't have a great swim.

10:09 He's used to chasing but he had a less than ideal start to the run -- to the bike, sorry.

10:17 And held his own on the bike.

10:19 And now he's just putting together a beautiful ability.

10:22 I think as you run on that hot surface, it's grueling.

10:27 And as I said, nowhere to hide.

10:29 There is no shade out there on the course.

10:31 And that tarmac gets hot.

10:34 >> Down the back stretch here at homestead Miami where Magnus Ditliff is as he makes

10:41 his way past this final aid station.

10:45 He'll cut back down once he gets on the front stretch.

10:51 And he'll be making his way to the finish line here at T100 Miami.

11:00 And this will be Magnus' first victory in a PTO event.

11:04 Outside of the Collins cup, I believe.

11:07 So really exciting day for him.

11:10 Zipping up the suit, making sure he looks presentable as he crossed the finish line.

11:16 Got to show off those sponsors.

11:18 Yeah, phenomenal.

11:20 Phenomenal day by Magnus Ditliff.

11:22 But this young man, Sam Long, I'd love to see him race.

11:30 And Yuri Kulin has passed Brownlee for fourth.

11:36 Brownlee back to fifth.

11:38 Kulhas six.

11:40 Jansen west has run his way up into the seventh spot.

11:43 Back of guard in eighth.

11:45 Laid low ninth.

11:47 And Aaron royal tenth.

11:49 And now the crowd is right there next to Magnus Ditliff as he'll make his way onto the tunnel.

11:56 >> He saw a little bit of motion.

11:59 He sort of slight fist pumped as he was coming into the finish line here.
