North west news update March 6 2024: Violent Preston thug jailed for biting man's ear off

00:05 this Wednesday. A valiant Preston folk who bit the ear off his twin brother's next-door

00:10 neighbour has been jailed for more than five years. Desmond Hollinshead ripped off a chunk

00:16 of Joseph Gladden's right ear and spat it on the floor as he set astride him during

00:21 a prolonged assault. Twin brother Darren Hollinshead also took part in the lounge of a house in

00:27 Milton Drive, Mooranook and was also sent to prison, as was the third man, Matthew Chambers,

00:32 who swung the first punch which broke the victim's jaw. Desmond Hollinshead was jailed

00:38 for five years and four months after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm. Matthew Chambers,

00:43 who also pleaded guilty, received 21 months. And Darren Hollinshead, who also admitted

00:48 a charge of fray, received 15 months. A man has been jailed for seven and a half years

00:54 for trying to bring one million pounds worth of cocaine into the UK hidden in a table.

01:00 Scott Brine was arrested in August after a parcel addressed to his Lancashire home from

01:04 Costa Rica was found, was axed right at London Heathrow and was found to contain 11 kilograms

01:10 of the drug. The 31-year-old of Bancroft Avenue, Thornton, Cleveland admitted conspiring to

01:16 import drugs on January 3rd and was jailed at Preston Crime Court. Families are being

01:22 invited to light a candle for loved ones at a Lancaster Charity Special Memorial event.

01:28 Cancer Care will hold the Lights on the Lawn event on Friday, April 19th at 6.45, which

01:34 will see the gardens at its Slinedale Centre adorned with hundreds of candles dedicated

01:39 to lost family and friends.

01:42 Hampton teenager Zac Ferber has begun his motorsport journey to hopefully becoming a

01:47 competitor in the World Rally Championship. The 14-year-old has entered into the Rally

01:52 Championship for junior drivers in England and Wales. He is also the son of award-winning

01:57 rally driver Kevin Ferber.

02:00 Wigan commuters are being urged to check before they travel this morning due to a broken down

02:04 train. Due to the incident between Liverpool, Lime Street and Wigan North Western, some

02:11 lines are blocked and as a result trains will either be delayed or cancelled.
