Adding the maintenance and repair sector to the taxable list should not have been rushed, says Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (Muda-Muar).
He said this when debating the motion of thanks on the Royal Address in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (March 4).

But what is more shocking is that just last week, three days ago, this scheme was enforced
00:09
using the back door of the government to join a new sector in the scope of the SST scheme,
00:20
which is maintenance and repair.
00:23
This was included in the last minutes, not discussed in Parliament,
00:28
and there was no consultation session.
00:30
It was published on 23 February and enforced on 26 February,
00:36
until it was rejected by experts because there was no consultation session.
00:42
Because it was done in a hurry and in silence, without any direct clarification.
00:48
The people want to ask, with the inclusion of maintenance and repair,
00:53
it is very broad and general. Will it involve laptops, mobile phones, cars and many more?
01:03
Because it will increase the cost of living of the people.
01:07
Therefore, don't do this kind of thing in the last minute.
01:11
Discuss it, have a consultation session.
01:14
Don't use the back door because you are frustrated and finally,
01:18
you are willing to lie and not use the Parliament as the best avenue.
01:24
Moh, can I say something?
01:26
Moh, regarding the SST, as you said, I see that not only the people out there don't understand,
01:33
but the minister himself doesn't understand.
01:35
There is a minister of communications here, in the poster issued by the minister of communications,
01:39
it is included that logistics is not subject to an increase of SST by 2%.
01:44
While logistics is a new scope of service, which is just introduced and is subject to an increase of SST by 6%.
01:52
It is not an increase of 2%, but an increase of 6%.
01:55
That is the first.
01:56
The second is related to logistics.
01:58
Moh has said a lot about logistics.
02:00
In the last budgetary discussion, the minister of finance said that they will hold a logistics session
02:09
because many people raised it.
02:10
However, in the end, the issue is related to logistics, which is also 6%.
02:15
What is concerned in the context of logistics is tax on tax.
02:19
If we look at it, there are many fines on top of fines.
02:23
So I would like to ask a little, what is the approach of MOF to deal with this matter?
02:27
Thank you, Moh.
02:28
That's why I said, don't lie and deceive.
02:30
I also saw the poster.
02:32
I was surprised when I saw it.
02:34
The logistics sector is excluded, but in the official environment,
02:37
in the MOF website, the logistics sector is included from 0% to 6%.
02:43
The increase is quite large.
02:45
So don't lie.
02:47
And whatever the minister of finance said is true,
02:50
it is tax on tax.
02:52
We see where from all levels and the cascading effect will cause the price of basic goods to rise and plummet.
02:59
I hope the video that the minister of finance made will not be cut again.
03:03
I will enter about the video.
03:05
I hope so, Moh. If not, it will be cut again.
03:07
I will enter it later.
03:08
That's why in 2024, the government called it the year of the body government.
03:14
What will happen in 2024?
03:17
Low value good tax will rise.
03:19
High value good tax will rise.
03:21
FSE will rise.
03:23
The price of diesel will rise.
03:25
The price of petrol will rise.
03:27
Electricity and water bills will rise.
03:29
The ringgit will continue to plummet and weaken.
03:32
The basic needs, basic goods, we continue to depend on foreign countries.
03:36
Import and importation bills rise and plummet.
03:39
That's why the government might say,
03:42
"Ah, it's okay. 2024 is the year of the body."
03:44
But the people say the opposite.
03:46
The people out there don't call 2024 the year of the body.
03:50
They call 2024 the year of the expensive goods.
03:57
The End.
04:00
Thank you for watching.
