Trump's Appeal Denied, Ordered to Pay $454 Million for Civil Fraud
  • 2 months ago
A New York judge ordered Donald Trump to pay a $454 million judgment for civil fraud related to his business practices. Trump's lawyers requested pausing enforcement of the judgment while appealing and offered a $100 million bond. The judge denied pausing enforcement but allowed Trump to continue seeking loans from New York financial institutions. If forced to post the full bond amount, Trump's lawyers said properties may need to be sold quickly due to a lack of liquid assets. The NY Attorney General opposed any pause, noting Trump has not shown ability to pay the full judgment amount. Trump was also ordered to pay $83 million in a separate defamation case and is appealing both massive court fines.
