Biden Holds Heated White House Meeting with Congressional Leaders to Avert Government Shutdown
  • 2 months ago
President Biden met with the top four congressional leaders at the White House to discuss averting a government shutdown at the end of the week. Funding expires for some agencies on Friday and more on March 9th if no action is taken. Tensions were high in the meeting over delayed military aid still stalled in the House for Ukraine. Leaders said they want to avoid a shutdown but have yet to release stopgap funding legislation. Negotiators had hoped to unveil appropriations bills this week but have not been released. A shutdown would furlough hundreds of thousands of federal workers and cut some services.
