00:00 Getting a taste of Chinese culture.
00:07 Charles Darwin University's Confucius Institute hosting a series of free workshops to mark
00:13 Chinese New Year.
00:14 The idea of holding this event here is that instead of doing this cultural presentation
00:20 languages in schools and at City University, we want to go to a wider community.
00:26 From painting to a traditional tea ceremony. And of course, mahjong. The day hoped to help
00:32 foster engagement with Chinese cultural practices.
00:36 This is what we want to introduce to our community. So I wish everybody healthy, happy and enjoy
00:43 life.
00:43 Participants here today have embraced the cultural activities on offer, including learning
00:48 about Tai Chi and Chinese music, including bone flute playing.
00:53 It's way more difficult than I imagined actually. It's really interesting and I want to introduce
01:00 it to my children.
01:04 Charles Darwin University partners with Hainan University in China. Representatives making
01:10 the long journey to Darwin to help host today's event.
01:13 I think people need to communicate more, especially between China and Australia. It's a good opportunity
01:21 for Chinese students and Australian students to see what is going on in the two countries,
01:28 what the cultures are.
01:31 A helping hand guiding a stronger relationship into the future.
