Horses die on UK roads at 'alarming' rate due to unsafe drivers, charity says

The British Horse Society (BHS) has launched its new 'Dead Slow' campaign to educate drivers on best practice for sharing the road with horses - and passing them and their riders safely. This comes after new statistics show that horses are being killed on the roads at an "alarming rate", with at least one horse dying each week across the UK in 2023. Three equestrians also died in road incidents last year - the highest rate of human fatalities recorded by the charity since 2018.
