माघ माह के कृष्ण पक्ष की अमावस्या को माघी अमावस्या या मौनी अमावस्या कहा जाता है। मौनी अमावस्या के दिन लोग पवित्र नदी में आस्था की डुबकी लगाते हैं। इस दिन किए गए दान-पुण्य और पूजन से अन्य दिनों की तुलना में हजारों गुणा पुण्य प्राप्त होता है इस साल मौनी अमावस्या 9 फरवरी को है। इस मौके पर पवित्र सरोवरों में स्नान और पूजा पाठ तो करते ही हैं। साथ-साथ लोग एक दूसरे को के बधाई और शुभकामना संदेश भी भेजते हैं।

Amavasya of Krishna Paksha of Magh month is called Maghi Amavasya or Mauni Amavasya. On the day of Mauni Amavasya, people take a dip of faith in the holy river. The charity and worship done on this day gives thousands of times more virtue than on other days. This year Mauni Amavasya is on 9th February. On this occasion, people take baths and worship in the holy ponds. Along with this, people also send congratulatory and good wishes to each other.
