Mumbai Police Prohibits Assembly Of Five Or More People, Processions Till February 6; Know Why

Mumbai police has issued orders banning assembly of five or more persons and processions in the city till February 6. The decision was taken with the aim to prevent breach of peace in the city. Manoj Jarange, Maratha quota activist, has announced to stage massive protests in Mumbai from January 26. Thousands of Jarange’s supporters are on their way to Mumbai. Manoj Jarange is demanding blanket Kunbi (OBC) caste certificate for all Marathas. As reported by PTI, the order was issued on January 22 by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.
