00:00 The Toy Piano Gallery is a part of the activity of small instruments,

00:07 a musical group or idea that I have been running in Wrocław for 17 years.

00:13 We have always played music on unusual objects, unusual instruments,

00:19 small instruments, as the name suggests.

00:22 And the Toy Piano, or toy piano, toy piano,

00:26 is a great example of such an unusual instrument,

00:30 because we all know the correctly sounding piano,

00:35 those big, traditional, adult ones.

00:38 However, the sound of these small instruments sounds completely different

00:43 and it is worth getting to know it,

00:46 and using it still introduces certain new qualities to music.

00:50 In 2010, I decided to write a book about the history of these pianos,

00:56 which presents their culture in a very rich way.

01:00 Please note that this is one kind of instrument,

01:04 but it is available in hundreds of variants.

01:07 To prepare this book well,

01:10 I needed to have access to a large number of different copies,

01:14 and in this way I started to create a collection,

01:17 which today has over 300 different toy pianos.

01:21 And because of this, we thought it would be nice to present them in public.

01:26 Hence the idea of creating a toy piano gallery.

01:29 Most of these pianos that reach me,

01:33 unfortunately, do not work, so these instruments need to be repaired.

01:38 In this case, the keys did not move at all in one place,

01:42 and the reason for this was such an object hidden inside.

01:47 Someone just fell under the keys,

01:51 such a 19th-century slipper of some doll, bitten.
