Newcastle United are through to the FA Cup 4th round after a 3-0 win over Sunderland.
00:07
The first win over Sunderland since 2011, the first win since 2011 that Ryan Taylor
00:13
had a kick and it was the day when Newcastle dominated the game really. The difference
00:17
between the Premier League Newcastle and the Championship Sunderland was really evident
00:21
in the game. It was coming in, Newcastle weren't in the best of form, someone picked up a couple
00:25
of results so it was a difficult fix to have at any house like as the house would have
00:28
been in any competition in the FA Cup. The weather did storm a little bit early on but
00:33
Sunderland never really tested Martin De Brabieke in that first half. At the end Newcastle showed
00:39
they were dominant and they made their early dominance play through an own goal which to
00:44
be fair was set up really well by Joel Inman, his work down the left was superb, it was
00:48
nice of him to play, he skipped past a couple of challenges, fired a ball across, Isak was
00:52
there to get home but the ball was diverted in the home net by Dan Ballard and that was
00:58
really the story first half. Newcastle deserved to go into the break 1-0 ahead. In the end
01:03
of the day, you think coming into the second half there was going to be some nerves, you
01:06
think can they react, can they put the memories of the last couple of games behind them but
01:12
within a minute Pierre Equiel was dispossessed by Al Maron, Al Maron played Isak, Isak fired
01:17
a shot corner, all of a sudden it was 2-0 and Newcastle really were in control there.
01:22
The home fans around us were getting a little bit annoyed with Sunderland's tendency to
01:26
play out from the back, I think that didn't help them, they aren't a big side Sunderland
01:31
I think, Newcastle physically dominated them at times, especially Joel Inman in that first
01:35
half, the only concern would be the fact that he did go off injured at half time, which is
01:40
after half time, so it would be interesting to speak that out about him but the rest of
01:44
the day was brilliant for Newcastle, they controlled the second half, they did let Sunderland
01:48
a little bit back into the game, Quintar had a shot, first one went over the bar and the
01:52
second one was saved slightly by Dubravka but other than that Newcastle were good value
01:56
for their win and then later on Anthony Gordon skipped past Dan Ballard, Ballard took him
02:02
down, Craig Goulston pointed at the spot and Isak converted as he always does to confront
02:07
the 6,000 fans you can see just over my shoulder there, so sending them into rapture, sending
02:12
Newcastle into the fourth round with a comfortable win, it was a good performance from right
02:18
outside after a difficult few weeks and as I mentioned those 6,000 Newcastle fans who
02:22
are slowly making their way out of the stadium right now will be very happy with their team's
02:26
work and there'll be one like this, they will hope to support that next week against Man City
02:32
because that's a really big game but right now Newcastle United, the fans, the players,
02:37
staff, everyone can go home very happy with the day's work and Newcastle have the bragging
02:41
wagon rides over the neighbours until they flee again.
