François Duvauchel's Fatal Crash @ Rallye Des Centurions 2018 (Aftermath)

Held on Thursday, 10 May 2018, the first edition of Rallye des Centurions, round of French Rally Cup, was marred by tragedy which happened on its first special stage.

Shortly after the start of the first special stage "Les Sept Voies 1" Jimmy Payen lost control of his Peugeot 206 RC and left the road. Car went into an area where photographers were allowed to stay where it struck François Duvauchel, 45, from Verlincthun. Duvauchel was killed instantly. Peugeot ended in the river and driver Jimmy Payen and co-driver Nicolas Marseguerra were injured.

Following the accident, the second special stage was cancelled. After the gathering of all crews participated in the rally, half of them decided to withdraw from the event while the remaining wanted to continue the rally. Race continued but its second, third and fifth special stages were cancelled. Dominique Rebout and Isabelle Galmiche became overall winners on their Škoda Fabia R5 after winners of the first special stage, Yves Saint Requier and Vincent Varetz, withdrew after a fatal accident.
