Thomas Gentry's Fatal Crash @ Key West 1994 (Aftermath)

Honolulu real estate developer and offshore powerboat racer Tom Gentry, was critically injured when his catamaran flipped at the Key West World Offshore Championship on 13 November 1994. Throttleman, Richie Powers escaped injury.
Gentry spent a month in a Florida hospital before being flown to his home in Hawaii. He remained in a coma for more than 3 years and died never regaining consciousness on 15 January 1998
