Based on a TRUE STORY. Same story as in 郎心如鐵 Remains of a Woman (1993), with a different treatment.
The story was popular enough to inspire two films. This is the better of the two and it stars 黃秋生 Anthony Wong Chau-sang, 葉童 Cecilia Yip Tung, 吳鎮宇 Francis Ng Chun-yu and Paul (Chiang) Chu, 梁思敏 Ivy Leung Si-Man and 賀茵 Hoh Yan.
A female social worker corresponds with a couple that is sent to prison after a goopy body belonging to air stewardess Brenda Wong (Hoh Yan), is found in their apartment in a trunk filled with acid.
Shirley Cheng (Cecilia Yip) visited the wife, Kitty Yuen (Ivy Leung), then the husband, Patrick Wong (Francis Ng).
Shirley unexpectedly falls for Patrick and begins to think that he is innocent. So she arranges for a defense team (with help from a Catholic church) to get him acquitted of the charges. Meanwhile a hard working detective, Inspector Lau (Anthony Wong) tries to convince the woman that he's guilty as hell. But he arranges to have a prison divorce and wedding behind bars. When she finds out the awful truth, how will she handle it?
