UEFA chief Alexander Ceferin said that many countries and many clubs have already spoken out against a proposed European Super League
Transcript
00:00 It is also important to know that clubs from many countries, for example England, Italy,
00:06 France, are prevented from joining a project which is outside the system.
00:11 Or you are part of the system or you are not part of the system.
00:15 But it's your choice.
00:17 We never said that anybody can't go out of the system.
00:22 But some would like to be out of the system but play in the system and it's hard to understand
00:28 actually what they mean.
00:30 And of course UEFA is free to organize its own competitions and to exclusively sell the
00:36 commercial rights.
00:37 So any competition, any, must fit within the system and comply with our new authorization
00:44 rules.
00:45 Among other things, require any new competition to respect sporting merit, international match
00:51 calendar, solidarity, etc.
00:54 So those rules also protect UEFA Champions Club competitions by requiring participation
01:02 in the UCL by domestic league champions.
01:06 And I will speak about that a bit later.
01:08 And clubs qualified through domestic leagues via UEFA's coefficient ranking as well as
01:15 UCL and UEL title holders.
01:18 So in conclusion, whilst there is always room for improvement, football remains united as
01:23 you see today, while protecting from breakaway projects which ignore all the things that
01:30 I was mentioning today.
