00:03 The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has seized Ilham Tower,

00:07 a 274-meter tall skyscraper in the capital.

00:11 A source said the seizure was made under Section 38 of the MACC Act,

00:16 which deals with the seizure of immovable property.

00:19 According to the source, the seizure was made pending undisclosed investigations.

00:26 This would mean that there cannot be any transactions involving the building, the source said.

00:31 According to MACC's Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Akram Garib,

00:36 the Federal Territory Office of the Department of the Director-General of Lands and Mines

00:41 was instructed to seize the property in a notice dated December 18.

00:45 He said any individuals who defies this notice or does anything to breach its terms

00:51 can be convicted of a crime and issued a fine not exceeding twice the value of the property

00:56 or RM50,000 or whichever is higher, and sentenced to jail for a term not exceeding two years.
