Bronny James Gets Tons of Attention for USC Debut

Bronny James made his much anticipated debut, but is there too much pressure on the younger James given the attention he is set to receive?

00:06 talked about it just from the sense of what this meant as far as a young man who

00:10 had a cardiac arrest over the summer and was able to get back on the basketball

00:14 court, it would have been hyped before.

00:17 Part of that is everybody realizes the gravity of it.

00:21 But as we go forward Dakota, given LeBron James is his dad,

00:24 given the attention USC is likely to get,

00:27 is there gonna be undue pressure on Bronte?

00:30 >> I don't think so.

00:32 I mean, he's been LeBron's son his entire life and

00:35 ever since he's played basketball, he's been LeBron's son.

00:38 So I don't think it's undue pressure or pressure he's not accustomed to.

00:42 I love the fact that he doesn't seem to be bothered by it.

00:45 And at this point, we as fans are just happy to see him back on the court.

00:51 Like you said, that was a terrifying thing.

00:53 And anybody, no matter how you feel about LeBron,

00:56 can sympathize and some might empathize with what he must feel as a parent.

01:00 Just to be able to see his son doing the thing he loves the most after such

01:04 a scary incident.

01:06 So no, I don't think it's too much pressure on him.

01:08 I think he just needs to go out there and be Bronte.

01:10 And I love the fact that LeBron has always relayed that message.

01:14 I just want him to go be Bronte.

01:16 As long as that's the case, I feel like there's no pressure.

01:18 Just play ball.

01:18 >> And- >> You're a college freshman at USC,

01:21 my God, you're just a kid.

01:24 >> No one expects him to be LeBron James, right?

01:26 Now, what happened with him from a health standpoint changes things a little bit

01:31 cuz it's just great that he's out there, period.

01:34 But if he is indeed 100% healthy and moves beyond that,

01:37 I think there's a chance he's a little bit underrated.

01:41 Because everybody knows he's not LeBron, and

01:44 he's not projected as a top prospect.

01:47 But if he can make his mark as, let's say, a 3 and D kind of player,

01:52 you know how valuable those pieces are in the NBA.

01:56 So there is a chance for Bronte to carve out his own lane here.

01:59 >> And that'll probably do him favors to the point of pressure.

02:04 If he was seen as a not-miss prospect right now, then yeah,

02:10 there's way more pressure.

02:10 But he gets time to just kind of develop.

02:12 If he could be a really good 3 and D guy, if not even better than that, but

02:16 there isn't any pressure that he's expected to be a first round pick next year.

02:20 So yeah, he could just play ball.

02:22 And he's on the USC, he might have the time.
