Bystanders crawl on frozen lake to save trapped teenagers in China
  • 5 months ago
This is the dramatic moment two brave volunteers crawled over the surface of a frozen lake to roll out a long strip to two teen boys who had fallen through the ice while playing. The nail-biting footage shows one man lying flat on his stomach as he slowly made his way toward the middle of the lake in Baotou, in the Inner Mongolia region of northern China, where the two boys were trapped, on November 27. Meanwhile, another remained closer to the shore and held the strip securely in place as the first one reached the stranded kids. Firefighters also arrived and tossed an extra rope to the boys, then began pulling them to shore. They managed to pass a short distance but seemingly got trapped again halfway there. Firefighters then grabbed a ladder and carefully extended it towards the boys, so they had something firmer to grasp. One firefighter then entered the water where another piece of ice had cracked and was finally able to drag them out to safety. The teens were later taken to a local hospital, where it was determined they had luckily avoided hypothermia. They were later discharged and sent home unharmed.
