A hard-working single mum has sparked debate online after claiming she won't be able to afford the Christmas she wants on a salary of £23,500.
Abbie Palmer, 30, works full-time as a customer services manager but says she had to walk out of Aldi because she couldn't afford a festive food shop.

This is the Rishi Sunak
00:02
Because you stand there and you talk about essentially a person like me
00:09
Somebody who works full-time. I live in social accommodation
00:12
I don't have anything other than my phone contract on fight like my phone on finance
00:20
And yet i've just had to walk out of aldi
00:24
Because after my bills are paid every month I am left with 600 pound to put fuel in my car so I can get to work
00:31
Get my food for the month
00:34
And do everything else I need to do and within that we're coming up to christmas
00:39
After that i've got to face the seven week month of january
00:43
So i'm about to make the decision tonight today that
00:48
Me not eating is the better way to go about it
00:54
So, please do tell me how
00:56
when I work full-time
00:59
My car isn't on finance or anything like that
01:01
It was paid for cash my car insurance is paid for yearly in advance and I save 100 pound a month
01:07
To make sure that I can't cover it, which by the way, I did my comparison last night
01:12
I'm, not even gonna be able to afford to have my car as of next month because even though I have
01:17
1,200 pounds saved up
01:20
Ready for when my insurance comes for a renewal
01:23
That is not gonna cover how much insurance has gone up by
01:27
My insurance quotes are coming back at 1,800 pound minimum
01:31
minimum
01:34
Which is 200 pounds a month
01:36
200 pound a month because they don't stick it at 1 800
01:43
As soon as I have to move that over to monthly pay now, it's 2500
01:48
Which means i'm gonna have to pay 200 pound a month car insurance meaning what right now
01:52
Leaves me with 600 pound a month left over my bills. I'm left with 400 pound a month
01:58
That's to pay for my food shopping that is to get everything else. I need travel to work everything
02:05
And yet i'm supposed to be what you are calling the perfect example
02:09
But no, i'm not i'm a rishi because the only way you're a perfect
02:13
Example in this state in this economy is if you're a couple and you're both working and you're both paying for the bills
02:21
But i'm not
02:24
I pay my bills I go to work
02:26
And yet it's still not enough for me to be able to eat
02:30
But please do justify all your other plans well done you stopped 14 year olds from being able to smoke you stopped a dog
02:39
a
02:41
dog
02:42
you're the biggest waste of spaces countries ever heard of
02:45
And the way the government actually has the audacity to sit there and allow for people like me who go out and work five times a week
02:54
Further from that i've had to look at getting a second job for the second time
02:59
just so i'm gonna be able to
03:02
get by
03:04
Whilst you sit there talking about how you can't get seven different types of bread
03:08
I can't even afford to go and buy one type of bread
03:12
And you're talking to the country about seven
03:14
You've got us paying for your second homes
03:17
You've got us paying for your 40 pound a day food allowance
03:22
pound for lunch
03:25
I don't even spend that a week on food
03:27
What do you mean you get that a day?
03:30
You're a disgrace
