Residents object to plans for wellness retreat in Hythe

Neighbours fear the loss of woodland after plans for four holiday homes were proposed for land in Hythe

00:04 I just think that habitat destruction's totally unwarranted.

00:08 There's so much wildlife here.

00:10 What a lovely area.

00:11 People's houses are going to be affected by noise.

00:17 God knows how it'll affect the value of those properties

00:21 because it's going to be an eyesore,

00:23 so it's going to devalue people's properties.

00:25 It's not the place for it.

00:28 I'm not a NIMBY because I live way over there.

00:31 I'm doing it for other people.

00:33 I really worry, together with my other four neighbours,

00:37 we won't be able to get out in our cars.

00:42 And this is my main worry.

00:45 As I have three children and we often drive to places,

00:50 and especially to school.

00:52 We all need our green space,

00:55 and we have protected wildlife that needs to be looked after.

01:00 It's a residence place to enjoy for all people of Hithe.

01:05 I wanted to live in Hithe because of the lovely community,

01:09 but also the beautiful surroundings.

01:11 So as you can see, literally right by my house,

01:14 we have this lovely woods and you can hear the birds,

01:17 you can hear the lake, you can hear a lot of the nature,

01:21 and it's just so peaceful and calm.

01:23 So yeah, that's why I could have had a larger house

01:26 or a different house in a different area,

01:27 but this is one of the reasons I picked here.
