00:00 India is the second largest investor in Kenya, but in matters trade, the balance of trade
00:07 is in your favor. You export a lot of things to this country, pharmaceuticals, heavy machinery,
00:14 or everything to do with our industries, the source is India. But we have not been able
00:25 to make very good inroads in India. And we plead that you consider waiving levies and
00:32 taxes on our tea. We have the best tea in the world. But India is not consuming us much
00:43 because there are certain restrictions that we have put. And I would like to request that
00:49 we consider better trade where we can receive your equipment and you can receive Kenyan tea.
00:56 Again, India offers medical tourism for our country. A lot of Kenyan patients with complicated
01:04 diseases come to India and we really want to thank our country for that. We want to
01:16 invite business people from India to come and put up hospitals here so that your expertise
01:23 and technology in the medical world can be utilized here. Instead of people traveling
01:28 all the way to India, we can have Indian hospitals partnering with us to come and invest here
01:35 so that our people can benefit from that technology and your medical expertise from here within
01:42 the country. And we have created a very conducive atmosphere for investment in this country.
01:48 Kenya is a gateway to East and Central Africa and indeed Africa. We have international airports.
01:55 We have the port of Mombasa. Again, we have good financial systems. We have banks that
02:01 transact across the world. Again, we have a very good political environment because
02:07 we are the largest democracy in Africa. We do elections every five years. Again, we have
02:14 kept away terrorists. We have secured our country. It's very peaceful and very secure
02:18 for people to come and invest here. But we would want us to bridge the gap or the balance
02:24 of trade. We would want you to buy more goods from here. We would want you to come and put
02:32 up factories here so that we can create employment. As the people of India who have settled here
02:39 will testify to you, this is the destination of choice in matters of investment. They have
02:46 stayed here for many years and have integrated with the local communities and they belong
02:52 here because Kenyan people are very friendly. And therefore, we would want more people from
02:58 India to come and invest here.
