A man is fighting for life in hospital after he was stabbed in the neck in a horrific street attack.

Ambulance and police crews raced to Great Hampton Row in the Hockley area of Birmingham in the early hours of Sunday (19/11).

The victim was found lying in a pool of blood with serious neck injuries and was rushed to hospital.

Police say no arrests have been made and are appealing for anyone with information about the attacker to come forward.

A blue forensic tent was erected at the scene today (Mon) as officers conduct a fingertip search of the area.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We're holding a scene in Birmingham today after a man was stabbed yesterday, November 19.

“In the early hours of Sunday we were called to Great Hampton Row after a man was found with serious neck injuries.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment and we are carrying out further enquiries today.”

Residents living nearby expressed their shock at the attack and said violence was “getting worse”.

One dad said: “You don’t go out at night. Full stop. The violence is getting worse around here.

“It can be gangs, drug users or people who just want to rob you. It’s lawless.”

Another said: “I don’t invite people to visit any more, it used to be a lovely place to live where people looked out for each other.

“Now it’s full of HMOs (house in multiple occupation) and no one knows anyone.”
