I'm Ariella Scalise and enjoy the quiet weather while we have it.
00:04
Good day to maybe do any kind of yard work.
00:07
If today is maybe a day that you can travel ahead of Thanksgiving,
00:10
getting out early will be beneficial because we are going to be tracking
00:13
storms returning into the south as we head into the coming days.
00:17
So starting nice today, New Orleans 73 with sunshine, Jackson 69,
00:21
Dallas 68, San Antonio 71.
00:24
So very comfortable out there for today.
00:27
Heading into the day on Sunday, still into parts of North Texas,
00:30
West Texas, South Texas.
00:32
Things are mild and dry, but notice where we start to see the rain and
00:36
storms setting back up from Wichita to Oklahoma City, Dallas to Houston.
00:41
That's where we're gonna be seeing the rain and
00:42
the thunderstorms take shape as we head into our Sunday.
00:45
Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening, there will be a small area here,
00:49
primarily in northern parts of Texas throughout Oklahoma,
00:51
say from Wichita Falls up to Oklahoma City, where we could see severe
00:55
thunderstorms, we're talking about torrential downpours within some of those
00:58
storms and storms that could produce hail.
01:01
At times we could see some damaging wind gusts and
01:02
a few of these thunderstorms 50 to 60 miles per hour.
01:05
Accurately local storm acts up to 70 miles per hour, so
01:08
some travel along 35 and 40 could be impacted with some strong to severe
01:12
thunderstorms through Sunday.
01:14
Let's start to time that out.
01:15
I've got your early tomorrow morning as we start to see that rain really taking
01:18
shape there into Kansas and Oklahoma down into Texas.
01:23
This is throughout the afternoon, so 12 o'clock again,
01:25
eastern zones here of the states.
01:27
We'll start to see more thunderstorms erupting as we head into Sunday afternoon
01:31
and Sunday evening, and then we start to see things push a bit farther north with
01:34
the rain here, so at times some beneficial rain.
01:37
But again, watching for some thunderstorms still.
01:39
Monday, if you're trying to get out early for some travel,
01:42
that's where those impacts are gonna still be around throughout Louisiana,
01:46
into Mississippi, and into Arkansas.
01:48
That's where we could see those thunderstorms pushing through.
01:50
It's this area between our front, between the cold front and
01:53
the warm front that we're watching for that most activity moving on through,
01:57
where we highlight the area for severe thunderstorms.
02:00
All modes of severe weather are gonna be possible within this area from Shreveport
02:04
just to the south of Memphis and to the north of New Orleans.
02:07
Isolated tornadoes, hail, and
02:09
torrential downpours in addition to the damaging winds, 60 to 70 miles per hour.
02:13
Accurately local storm acts up to 80 miles per hour.
02:16
So a large area which includes parts of 20 and 55, that risk for some,
02:20
which means severe thunderstorms are possible in parts of the area.
02:24
So we're not talking numerous or widespread, but
02:26
just really the first impacts we've seen really since September in this part of
02:30
the country when it comes to severe weather.
02:32
The severe weather risk does shift a bit east as we head into the day on Tuesday
02:36
from Atlanta to make it down into Tallahassee.
02:39
Mostly gonna be watching for the flooding downpours in this area, but
02:42
also some of these storms could have hail.
02:45
So heads up if you are traveling as we head into Tuesday.
