00:00 As we reach the two-year mark since President Joe Biden signed the monumental $1 trillion
00:05 infrastructure bill into law, his administration is now in full swing, having initiated an
00:11 impressive 40,000 projects dedicated to the extensive task of rebuilding America.
00:18 This revelation comes from none other than the infrastructure czar, Mitts Landrieu.
00:23 Join us as we delve into the significant impact of this extensive effort and how the White
00:28 House strategically positions these achievements aiming to secure maximum credit for President
00:34 Biden as he gears up for the upcoming elections.
00:39 Landrieu spent more than an hour with reporters on Thursday, November 9 to talk up the benefits
00:44 of the infrastructure law ahead of the November 15 anniversary.
00:49 A former mayor of New Orleans, Landrieu is expected to step down soon after working a
00:55 year beyond his original pledge to spend one year leading the infrastructure effort.
01:02 Landrieu, bagged by the Hatch Act from saying much about politics, summed up the choice
01:08 he feels voters will face between Biden and a Republican opponent.
01:12 "Somebody's going to be blowing smoke.
01:15 Somebody's going to bring receipts," he said.
01:21 Biden regularly travels to sites that will benefit from the law, including a visit to
01:25 his hometown of Wilmington and a trip to the Byron Spence Bridge spanning Ohio and Kentucky.
01:32 The administration has put signs at construction projects across the country boasting about
01:38 Biden's role in securing the funding.
01:41 Despite the information campaign, Biden's approval rating is hovering around 40 percent,
01:46 near the lowest level of his presidency, according to latest poll.
01:51 And he repeatedly gets low grades for his handling of the economy fuelled in part of
01:56 frustration over high food and energy prices.
02:01 Landrieu said that more than $400 billion in projects has been announced, covering 40,000
02:08 projects in more than 4,500 communities in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia
02:14 and Native American tribal areas.
02:17 Landrieu said he personally has travelled to 130 cities, towns and communities impacted
02:22 by the law, logging more than 11,000 miles.
02:25 With the extensive project list encompassing airports, bridges, roads, electric vehicles,
02:31 recharging stations, and the expansion of high-speed Internet access, the question arises
02:37 how long until the completion of all 40,000 projects?
02:42 According to Mitch Landrieu, the estimated timeframe ranges from three to five years,
02:47 while some projects are slated for swift completion, iconic endeavours like the Hudson River Tunnel
02:53 for New York and New Jersey will be long-term endeavours.
02:57 "Our focus remains to ensure meticulous budget adherence throughout ensuring these transformative
03:04 initiatives becoming a lasting legacy for the nation," he said.
