Staff at Sunderland school 'happy' and proud of 'fantastic children' after good Ofsted judgement

Headteacher John Howe is joined by pupils as the school reacts to its good Ofsted judgement.

00:00 Right, so Kieran, just start by asking how you feel about the overall judgement of Good?

00:04 We're happy with it. It reflects the hard work that goes on in school and it reflects

00:09 all the effort that the staff, the children and the families keep putting into Seaburn

00:15 Dean, making our school the school it is.

00:20 And what pleased you most about the report?

00:21 I think the way he talked about the inclusivity and the way children and staff care for one

00:27 another, I think that was quite important that we have a school where that is really

00:32 obvious to inspectors who come from outside, that it's a caring, nurturing environment.

00:38 What was the reaction of the staff when you told them?

00:40 Staff were really happy, relieved and I think when they realised the support we received

00:48 from parents as well, which was really important, that reflected in the way they felt at the

00:54 end of it all. I think happy but relieved.

00:58 Okay then Miles, how does it feel to come to a good school then?

01:02 Good and I'm proud to have come here.

01:06 Alice, what's the best thing about coming to this school for you?

01:08 I think the best thing is the lessons because the teachers try and make it as fun as possible.

01:16 And Tilly, how do you feel about coming to a good school?

01:19 Well it's really nice because everyone's being kind to each other and everyone's got friends

01:26 and they're not alone. And if someone doesn't have friends then it means that they can go

01:33 and sit on a bench and then someone will see them and then that's called the buddy bench

01:38 and then they can go and get help.

01:40 So it's a very caring school, yeah?

01:42 Okay, and Arthur, how do you feel about coming to a good school?

01:45 Well I feel proud.

01:48 Pleased as well, happy?

01:50 Yeah.

01:51 And what's the best thing about this school for you?

01:53 Well, to me, the best thing about school is chatting to my friends and playing with them.
