00:14 The Horse and Groom at Mercatoria

00:15 is the oldest pub in St. Leonard's

00:17 and it was cast in doubt after eccentric

00:19 and well-loved landlord David Sandsbreed's

00:21 died in February 2022.

00:24 The pub was put on the market earlier this year

00:26 by David's sister and there had been concerns

00:28 that it would lose its special identity

00:30 as a local pub before it was bought by Alan Pink.

00:33 A planning application has been submitted

00:35 to build a new world-class £11 million art,

00:38 education and cultural hub near Eastbourne.

00:41 Plans to develop Black Robin Farm

00:42 on the downland above Eastbourne

00:44 will soon be considered by the South Downs
