00:06 Some really sad news to start off with as a 38-year-old woman has died after a collision

00:11 in Crawley.

00:12 Sussex Police said emergency services responded to reports of a single vehicle collision on

00:16 the slip road between Crawley Avenue and Balcombe Road around 11.50am on Tuesday.

00:21 Sadly, a 38-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

00:26 Her next of kin have been informed.

00:29 The road was closed until after 5pm as emergency services worked at the scene and completed

00:33 initial investigations.

00:35 Officers are now keen to speak to anyone who witnessed a collision or who may have captured

00:38 any dashcam footage of the incident.

00:49 Meanwhile, businesses in St Leonard's have said they fear they will not survive after

00:53 being told they will not receive compensation following a major sewage leak.

00:58 Several industrial units in the Bridgeway Industrial Estate suffered flooding after

01:02 a sewer burst in the Bolvahithe area on October 18.

01:05 The affected businesses said this week that losses are expected to total up to £400,000

01:10 and added they were told by Southern Water that the company would not be considering

01:14 any claims for compensation.

01:16 Debbie Russell said six of her units, all with businesses and tenants, were contaminated

01:20 and left unusable following the sewage burst.

01:23 She said "We have just been advised that the legal team at Southern Water has decided we

01:27 are not going to receive any compensation for our goods and units as we cannot prove

01:31 negligence on their part.

01:33 I have six tenants who are now facing financial ruin."

01:37 Southern Water said two properties were flooded internally and 22 houses suffered external

01:41 flooding following the incident in October.

01:44 A spokesperson for Southern Water said "We understand the impact felt by local businesses

01:47 during the incident.

01:48 All those affected by the burst sewer at Bolvahithe should go through their insurers in relation

01:52 to any losses."

01:53 Finally, kind-hearted staff at a fish and chip shop in West Sussex are giving away pre-paid

01:58 food to people who are struggling to make ends meet.

02:01 Crispy Cod in North Road, Lansing has launched a successful donation drive which is funded

02:05 by themselves and random acts of kindness.

02:09 People who are hungry but low on funds can pick up a ticket at the shop to claim food

02:13 which has already been paid for.

02:15 A sign on the shop window reads "If you are hungry and have no money, these meals have

02:19 been paid for in advance.

02:21 Give a server your ticket and they will have the kitchen prepare your meal."

02:23 Sarhin Saglam, who runs the shop, said "I've seen other places do it throughout the year

02:27 and I wanted to see if it would work here.

02:29 I uploaded a post on Facebook and it went viral.

02:32 People shouldn't be out in the cold with a hungry stomach.

02:34 We've had people come in to say how grateful they are."

02:37 Sarhin said he doesn't want this to be a one-off and wants it to continue next year.
