Protesters call for cancellation of Pasig River Expressway (PAREX) project
  • 6 months ago
Philippine Movement for Climate Justice members protested in front of the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR) on Tuesday, Oct. 24, to call for the complete cancellation of the Pasig River Expressway (PAREX) project. They were joined by other environmental advocates, progressive groups, and impacted communities.

The protesters call on the DENR to halt the construction of PAREX. They argue that the project will further pollute the Pasig River and destroy its ecosystem, which is home to various wildlife and fish. They also point out that PAREX will displace communities living along the river and worsen traffic congestion in Metro Manila. (MB Video by Mark Balmores)
