Country footballer turned online influencer Tom Baulsch, 24, said employing social media was essential to the success of his personal training business.

00:04 that you can utilize to have a successful business.

00:08 My name's Tom Walsh, but many people know me as Primetrain.

00:12 My business is Primetrain Proprietary Limited.

00:15 What I do is kind of

00:17 con around social media,

00:21 create content based around fitness, training,

00:25 a little bit of footy and AFL stuff in there as well,

00:27 which keeps me very busy,

00:28 and trying to educate people on the right way to train

00:31 and educate people on the right things to eat

00:35 and those sort of things.

00:36 I didn't really enjoy waking up at 2 a.m., 3 a.m., 4 a.m.

00:41 every morning to be a personal trainer,

00:43 and I think that that started to take

00:44 a little bit of a toll on me.

00:45 So eventually I decided that I wanted to move

00:49 a lot of my business online,

00:50 or at least 50% of my business online.

00:52 So that's kind of where it all started,

00:54 and I started posting on Instagram and TikTok,

00:56 and I was very fortunate that my TikTok

00:58 really blew up and grew pretty heavily at the start.

01:02 And I think within the first six months,

01:05 I grew 150,000, 200,000 followers,

01:08 which was just ridiculous to me and incredibly humbling.

01:11 And that was probably the reason that I started,

01:14 and what motivated me to start,

01:15 was being able to move some of my business

01:19 to an online perspective,

01:21 and be able to, I guess, to work and earn money,

01:26 but then also kind of be able to not work

01:28 and earn money.

01:28 So I guess the online programs

01:30 was a good way for me to do that.
