“What does Amit Shah’s son do?”, Rahul Gandhi takes a snipe at dynastic politics | Mizoram Election
  • 6 months ago
On Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi strongly criticized the BJP's frequent accusation of his party's ""dynastic politics"" and pointed out that there are also prominent political dynasties within the ruling party.

During a media briefing in Aizawl, Gandhi questioned the roles of Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh's sons. He mentioned that Amit Shah's son is involved in running Indian cricket, and several children of BJP leaders, such as Anurag Thakur, come from political dynasties.

Gandhi expressed his confidence that the Congress would emerge victorious in all the upcoming state assembly elections scheduled for the following month. He asserted that the Congress would secure victory in all the states they are contesting, including Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram. Gandhi mentioned that this didn't pose a significant challenge in his view.

He also argued that if anyone needs to defend their political positions, it is the BJP and not the Congress. Gandhi observed a strong anti-BJP sentiment in Madhya Pradesh, a BJP-ruled state, and widespread support for Congress governments in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, both under Congress rule.

The Congress leader highlighted the ideological differences between his party, the BJP, and the RSS. He emphasized the Congress's belief in India as a Union of States that protects all religions, cultures, and histories. He claimed that the Congress has a history of laying the foundation of the country and defending its core principles, while the BJP is attempting to centralize power in the country's institutional framework.

Gandhi stressed that the Congress supports decentralization, whereas the BJP advocates for centralized decision-making in Delhi. He pointed out that the RSS and the BJP aim to impose a single ideology and organization on India, a stance that the Congress opposes and believes is a threat to the nation's core beliefs.

Furthermore, he reiterated that the INDIA alliance would safeguard the idea of India by protecting its values, constitutional framework, and freedom, emphasizing that the opposition coalition represents a significant portion of the nation, approximately 60%.
