Stefano Campana & Robin Munz's Fatal Crash @ Carlazzo 2015 (Aftermath)

The third edition of the Barelli rally ronde, officially called "Ba...relli Ronde della Val Senagra e Val Cavargna", held in province of Como, northern Italy, was suspended in conquence of a fatal accident, that resulted in the deaths of two Swiss competitors.

It happened on Sunday, 30 August 2015, during the fourth and final special stage of the rally, "Naggio-4", along narrow roads between the villages of Corlezzo and Porlezza, nearly the shores of Ceresio Lake (Lugano Lake), on the border between Italy and southern Switzerland.

While traveling at high speed in front of the marshal-post N. 46, the #30 Renault Clio R3 entered by Elleesse Racing team and driven by Stefano Campana-Robin Munz, suddenly went out of control. The car hit violently on the right side against a wall, then bumped against the guardrail on the other side, ending his run once again on the right side of the road.

The marshal who was on site, immediately reached the badly damaged car and tried to help its two occupants, that appeared to be both unconscious inside the cockpit. Given the condition of the Renault, it was impossible to open the doors of the car that in the meantime caught fire with a sudden blaze. Despite the immediate intervention of firefighters and the emergence crews, the driver Campana and his co-driver Munz were burned to death.

The Rally Ronde is a special class of minor rallies with only one at most 15-kilometer special stage to be run four times in a day and displacement stages. An Italian national rally ronde championship does not exist, but only regional or provincial trophies. In 2013 the Italian national sporting authority CSAI (Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana), created a Challenge Italia Ronde Asfalto (Italian Tarmac Ronde Challenge), a series which involved only a selected number of tarmac rally-rondes. The 2015 Ba...relli Ronde della Val Senagra e Val Cavargna was not part of that series, it was a round of the "Lombardia Ronde Cup", a trophy reserved to events of the Lombardy region, Italy.

Organized by the Scuderia Val Senagra Corse, the Ba...relli Ronde was dedicated to the memory of Sergio Barelli, famous organizer of the Rally di Como. 105 cars had started the rally and

A garage owner of Viganello, Stefano Campana, 38-year-old, lived in Curtina, Canton of Ticino, Switzerland, with his wife and two children. An experienced rally driver for almost six years, he mainly competed in his country and in northern Italy events.

The father of a 10-months-old boy, Robin Munz, 21, of Cimadera, Canton of Ticino, worked in his family business at Lugano. He co-drove to Campana since 2013.

Both the deceased racers were members of the Lugano Racing Team, and had already participated in the Ba...relli Ronde the previous year, finishing fourth in class, 16th place overall.
