UN peacekeepers in Lebanon hit by missiles coming from Hamas position

The headquarters of the United Nations peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon was struck by a missile coming from Hamas positions, Lebanese local media reported. The UN personnel are patrolling the Lebanon-Israel border as tensions flare between Hezbollah terrorists and Israel. Jerusalem said today an Israeli town on the border was attacked by five anti-tank missiles, killing at least one civilian. It retaliated by pummelling the source of the missiles with artillery and has now restricted an area of up to 2.5 miles from the Lebanon border, warning civilians not to enter.Israel has also deployed attack helicopters into Lebanon, according to the Israeli Air Force. Local media reports the strike on the UN headquarters was an accident and that the missile was intended for Israeli targets. The UN mission, known as UNIFIL, was created to oversee the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon in 1978 and expanded its role after a month-long 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah that ended in a stalemate. It said no one was hurt even though the peacekeepers were not in shelters. It did not specify where the rocket came from but expressed disappointment saying that despite the mission's efforts to get the sides "to de-escalate the situation,” the violence continues.IMPORTANT!
