Steve Scalise Withdraws , From House Speaker Race.
In a closed-door meeting on Oct. 12, Scalise told his colleagues that he is no longer running for the position, NBC News reports. .
His announcement, which he later confirmed to the press, comes one day after being nominated for the job by the GOP.
