The 13th edition of Rally Valle del Sosio, held in province of Agrigento, Italy, was annulled in sign of mourning after the death of co-driver Salvatore Coniglio, which happened around 09h45, on Sunday morning, 11 October 2020.

The event was the final round of the Italian Rally Cup - 8th Zone and fourth round of the Sicilian Rally Trophy. About three kilometers after the start of the second special stage of the rally "Caltabellotta 1", the Renault Clio Williams #32 driven by Vito Parisi-Salvatore Coniglio went out of control along the provincial road 37 in Favara-Burgio, between the villages of Caltabellotta e Chiusa Sclafani, province of Agrigento, Italy. The car left the road, hit a pole and crashed into a tree coming to rest upside-down. Vito Parisi from Chiusa Sclafani, was unharmed and managed to extricate himself from the wreckage, his co-driver Salvatore Coniglio, 54, was killed instantly.

Owing to the fatal accident, the special stage was immediately stopped and the remainder of the day's stages were canceled.

A former Carabiniere of San Giuseppe Jato, province of Palermo, Salvatore Coniglio lived in San Cipirello, Palermo, Italy, at the time of his death. He left behind his wife, Silvana and his son, Giorgio, 23-year-old.

Known by friends as "Totó Alfa", Salvatore Coniglio was an experienced rallyman, having participated in regional rallies in Sicily, either as driver than co-driver, since the early 2000s. During his co-driving career he guided different drivers, achieving three class victories - in the 2007 Rally delle Due Torri e del Principe, with Ignazio Campione in a Peugeot 106; in the 2010 Rally Terre di Bacco, with Rosario Campione in a Peugeot 106 Rallye and in the 2019 Targa Florio Rally, then a zonal rally, with Andrea D. Milazzo in a Seat Ibiza TDI. Reportedly, Coniglio was a last minute replacement for Vito Parisi's usual co-driver who was unavailable for the rally.

Salvatore Coniglio was the second rally co-driver to die during the same weekend. One day earlier, on Saturday, 10 October 2020, female Spanish co-driver Laura Salvo was killed in an accident during the first stage of the Rali Vidreiro in Portugal.
