Rich Moore's Fatal Crash @ Thompson Drag Raceway 2012 (Aftermath)

The accident that claimed the life of the experienced drag racer Rich Moore, 56, and left another driver hospitalized, occurred at about 14h00 on Saturday, 09 June 2012 at Thompson Drag Raceway in Geauga County, Ohio, United States.
Moore's car careened out of control to the right and crashed hard into a guardrail at the approximate speed of 150 mi/h. The orange Dodge Dart was completely destroyed, Rich Moore was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed that the crash was the result of mechanical failure. He had just crossed the finish line and was in the process of slowing down in a timed trial against another dragster driven by Chuck Waid, who also crashed trying to avoid Moore’s car. He was taken to Thompson hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
Richard Moore was reported to be from Cleveland, Ohio. He was buried at the Evergreen Memorial Park, Bedford, Ohio.
