Lamborghini’s spirit lives in the extremes: speed

00:05 Well, this is a wild one,

00:15 the Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce Yota,

00:18 or the SVJ as it's called.

00:20 It's the most extreme version

00:22 of Lamborghini's flagship Aventador.

00:24 It comes standard with a 760 horsepower V12,

00:28 all wheel drive, and a base price of over half a million.

00:32 Let's see how it did at our test track.

00:34 In race mode, the SVJ launches and upshifts incredibly hard,

00:40 reaching 60 in just 2.5 seconds.

00:43 The quarter mile comes in 10.3 seconds

00:45 at over 136 miles per hour.

00:48 There's 100.

00:49 (laughing)

00:51 Quarter mile.

00:55 In terms of braking, the pedal is stiff,

00:57 but it's still possible to modulate.

01:00 This yielded strong, super consistent braking performance.

01:04 Our best stop from 60 miles per hour was just 94 feet.

01:08 How does the speed freak handle?

01:09 Extremely well.

01:11 On the figure eight,

01:12 the Lamborghini is effective, but intimidating.

01:15 The suspension and brakes are super stiff,

01:17 and the gear shifts are violent.

01:19 All that yielded a stellar figure eight time

01:22 of just 22.5 seconds.

01:24 Other handling notes?

01:26 Well, there's mid corner understeer,

01:27 but the all wheel drive power fixes that on exit,

01:30 leading to glorious drifts.

01:32 Overall, the Lamborghini is blindingly fast,

01:37 with a daunting amount of power and grip.

01:40 And, fittingly for Lamborghini,

01:41 it looks as outrageous as it performs.

01:44 But, we'd caution those looking only

01:46 for Rodeo Drive street cred to steer clear of this menace.
