Hi, I'm Corey from RPG Off-Road, Laguna Hills, California.
00:10
What we're looking at today is the 2017 Ford Raptor.
00:15
Ford has given us an awesome vehicle to work with, but we want to improve that vehicle.
00:19
Today we want to talk about what we call our spring perch collar.
00:23
On Gen 1 Raptors, we have the ability to adjust the front coilovers to increase or decrease
00:30
vehicle ride height.
00:32
On the 2017 Raptor, we are no longer able to do that.
00:36
So what we have come up with is a spring perch collar that allows us to increase or decrease
00:41
the spring preload, just as what was done on the Gen 1 Raptor.
00:46
Here we have the spring perch, and we have the snap ring grooves.
00:49
There's three of them total in the body that allows us to get what we call bottom perch,
00:54
mid perch, or top perch.
01:01
But now in the new 2017 Raptor, we no longer have that ability.
01:04
We have a single groove.
01:09
So we are not able to adjust the vehicle ride height.
01:13
Once it's set from Ford, you're going to need to give us a call, and we will send you a
01:18
spring perch collar kit.
01:21
Simply what we do is we're going to lift up the spring perch, remove the factory snap
01:28
rings, install our RPG spring perch collars, slide the perch back down.
01:38
We've now increased vehicle ride height by an inch and a half in the front.
01:43
What we're doing here is disconnecting the sway bar, the anti-roll bar.
01:53
Increase the floor jack height to the point where the vehicle is just slightly off of
01:58
the jack stand.
01:59
We're then going to go ahead and put our coil spring compressors on.
02:09
With the coil spring compressors in place, we've added the clamp to the top to help retain
02:15
the spring from falling down.
02:17
We gently lower down the suspension, allowing us to remove the spring pressure.
02:32
Remember, the bottom snap rings are a press fit with the spring perch collar.
02:38
So it requires some persuasion with a hammer and aluminum block to move the lower collar
02:46
up to remove the snap rings.
02:50
These are the factory snap rings.
02:52
They're a square ring, unlike our conventional that we usually see as a round snap ring.
02:57
Okay, so this is a square groove into an aluminum body.
03:02
So the important thing with this, just make sure that it's clean.
03:05
You know that the collar kit is made into two pieces.
03:11
All we do is just take the collar, put it inside the groove, wrap it around, set the
03:19
logo to the position of your liking.
03:29
Two Allen screws will be provided.
03:34
When the Allen screw is down to 25 inch pounds, we simply just use a T-handle.
03:41
Now we're just going to use the floor jack once again to compress the suspension to relieve
03:47
some of the pressure off of the coil spring compressors.
03:51
Remove the coil spring compressors and we are done.
04:02
So that was about a 20 minute installation.
04:05
We've installed the RPG inch and a half vehicle lift spring perch collars.
04:12
We feel that this is a very good means to raise the vehicle height, that inch and a
04:18
half.
04:19
It's a very strong product.
04:20
They're anodized and lasered etched, made in the USA.
