00:09 Saving energy and being energy efficient can be quite an abstract concept to grasp

00:14 given that the only tangible indication is the fluctuation of monthly electricity bills.

00:20 To help future energy leaders understand the topic

00:23 as well as foster energy efficient habits and behaviours,

00:27 Tenaga National Berhad or TNB launched a campaign to reduce energy waste for school goers.

00:36 TNB's school activation program that was held recently

00:39 kept children engaged on the importance of being energy efficient,

00:43 raising awareness and nurturing good energy efficiency behaviour at a young age.

00:48 Themed 'Powering the Future', TNB's initiative in partnership with Star Media Group or SMG

00:55 exposed youngsters to a deeper understanding of the energy sector,

00:58 the current energy generation process,

01:01 as well as the need to transition towards renewable energy sources.

01:06 It was conducted through an engaging series of carefully curated and customised workshops

01:11 incorporated with fun simulation activities and games.

01:15 Held in 10 selected primary and secondary schools in urban and sub-urban settings within the Klang Valley,

01:22 the program received warm reception from 866 participating students.

01:28 It was a success in raising awareness on energy safety,

01:32 offering students helpful energy efficiency tips

01:35 while nurturing the future climate change activists with leadership qualities and self-confidence.

01:41 The national utility provider emphasised that since energy isn't something students can see or touch,

01:47 it is helpful to tie the concept to something they can understand.

01:51 The program was in line with TNB's efforts to meet the global energy challenge

01:55 and support the transition towards a low-carbon economy

01:58 while showcasing its commitment to environmental sustainability and the energy transition agenda.
