A quarter of the energy used in the EU comes from renewable sources, which countries use the most.
00:14
Renewable energy made up 24.5% of the EU's energy use in 2023, says the latest Eurostat report.
00:24
That's a 7% growth compared to 10 years ago, but still 18 points away from the target of 42.5% set for 2030.
00:37
Reaching this goal would require an annual increase of 2.6 points, when the average year-on-year growth in the last decade was only 0.79%.
00:50
Sweden tops the chart of clean energy consumption with over 66%.
00:56
Its main sources were solid biofuel, hydro and wind.
01:02
Finland is second with a nearly 51% rate of clean energy, followed by another Nordic country, Denmark, with almost 45%.
01:15
The lowest rates were reported in Luxembourg, Belgium and Malta.
01:21
With over 46%, Albania stands out as the EU candidate country with the highest rate.
