Hello and welcome to our latest guide to 5 things to do, and as we officially move into
00:09
autumn and with Christmas less than 100 days away, the entertainment scene is definitely
00:14
hotting up. As usual, I've cast my eye over what's coming up in the area and picked 5
00:19
favourites to try and tempt you. So this week we're starting with live music in Burnley
00:23
with two-tone legends, Bad Manners. That's right, the biggest international ska party
00:28
is coming to the Burnley Mechanics Theatre on the 30th of September and features crazy
00:33
frontman Buster Bloodvessel plus very special guests Out Of Control Army, all the way from
00:39
Mexico City on their world tour. They promise one hell of a party and tickets are £29 each.
00:47
Also on the 30th in Blackpool it's the second heat of the World Fireworks Championships.
00:52
This time out it's Switzerland's turn to try and light up the night sky with jaw-dropping
00:56
entertainment for all the family. It's a free event starting around 7pm at North Pier. It's
01:01
always popular and a busy night so get there early is my advice.
01:06
Staying in Blackpool next because from the 27th of September until the 7th of October
01:11
you can have the time of your life as Dirty Dancing starts its run at the Opera House.
01:16
Exploding with heart-pounding music, breathtaking emotion and sensationally sexy dancing. Seen
01:22
by millions across the globe, this worldwide smash hit tells the classic story of Baby
01:27
and Johnny, two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds. See the hit
01:31
film come to life before your eyes with this fantastic, emotional and triumphant live stage
01:36
show. Off-peak prices are from £20.75 and peak shows are from £23.50.
01:45
All aboard for our next highlight because it's Preston's Autumn Steam Gala. A glorious
01:50
day out for families and enthusiasts alike, the Autumn Steam Gala is Ribble's Steam
01:54
and Railways Weekend to show off the best of the collection. This year's line-up includes
02:00
Furnace No. 20, the oldest working steam loco in the UK and there'll also be special guest
02:06
trains too. A ticket entitles the visitor to as many train journeys as they wish, starting
02:11
from 11am and going every 45 minutes. The site is dog-friendly, accessible and has a
02:17
playground attached so that younger visitors can let off some steam. See what they do then.
02:22
It's on the weekend of September 30th and October 1st and adult tickets are just £10
02:28
and children over three pay £6.50.
02:32
Finally we head to Lancaster to catch Irish comedian Jason Byrne in the ironic Bionic
02:37
Man at Ashton Hall. The biggest selling comedian at the Edinburgh Finge Festival, Jason Byrne's
02:42
inspired original brand of high energy, intelligent lumacy ensures that there is no other comedian
02:48
like him and his sellout shows have attracted accolades including the Perrier Award nomination.
02:53
His show is on Friday 29th September and tickets will cost you £25.50.
03:00
Right that's us for another week. If you can't find anything amongst all that music, comedy,
03:04
theatre and fireworks, I'm afraid I can't help you. But join me next week for another
03:08
Five Things To Do. Until then, have a great week and I'll see you next time. Bye.
03:11
Bye.
