00:00 Hi I'm Stephen, National Wales Digital Trends writer and welcome back to another
00:04 episode of Screenbabel Weekend Watch where I'll talk you through the big
00:07 shows coming up this weekend. So to kick things off I want to talk about Sex
00:13 Education Season 4 which I mentioned in longer form in the main podcast so have
00:18 a look at that, have a listen there for more information on that. But the new
00:23 season which is fantastic drops on Thursday the 21st of September on
00:30 Netflix. It's eight episodes and they'll all be available on one go so you'll
00:34 probably already have seen it by the time you hear this anyway but if you've
00:37 not then there it is. Then also on Thursday season 2 of Crime the Ervin
00:45 Welsh adaptation with the character of Rhea Lennox follows the detective as he's
00:52 back in the fray at the Edinburgh Serious Crimes Division and attempting
00:57 to prove that he's recovered from the breakdown that he suffered in the first
01:01 season and this time he takes on Mr. Confectioner. So there'll be six episodes
01:07 of Crime Season 2, all six should be released on ITVX in one go and then
01:13 later on ITV1. Then on Friday another big show, The Continental. This is a John
01:23 Wick spin-off series or a mini series. It's three feature-length episodes for
01:28 about 90 minutes each and they come to Amazon Prime. It follows a young Winston
01:35 Scott in his time before he took control of the Continental, the hotel for
01:40 assassins that you see throughout the John Wick films. It also stars Mel Gibson
01:46 in the role of the villain Cormac, the current owner of The Continental in
01:51 the time that this is set in the 1970s, who's a bit of a vengeful, megalomaniac,
01:57 violent guy. He's not a very nice man, a bit like Mel Gibson himself and that will
02:03 be released in weekly installments on Fridays on Amazon Prime. Also on Friday
02:10 Friday is a big day for TV and film actually. The Expendables 4 hits cinemas.
02:15 So the plot has mostly been kept under wraps so far but as far as we
02:21 know it revolves around a nuclear conflict between the US and Russia,
02:24 imagine that. It stars some of the biggest action stars of years gone by.
02:31 You have Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, 50 Cent
02:37 for some reason and Megan Fox. So an all-star cast there. And then for people
02:44 of a slightly different disposition we have Love is Blind season 5 on Netflix.
02:50 The new series of the dating show, I don't know an awful lot about it but I'm
02:57 sure fans of the series will be aware. Episodes 1 to 4 drop on Friday the 22nd
03:03 and then on Friday the 29th episodes 5 to 7 are released and on October the 6th
03:09 episodes 8 to 9 and then the final episode 10 on October 13th. So fans of
03:16 reality TV rejoice. Then Song of the Bandits comes to Netflix also on Friday.
03:22 This follows a group of Koreans who gathered in Gando, today part of
03:26 northeastern China in the early 1900s and they band together to protect their
03:32 homes during the period of Japanese colonial rule from 1910 to 1945. It's
03:39 sort of a historical Western series with obviously major Korean influences. Then
03:47 lastly on Friday we have a new TV series, Still Up, which follows
03:54 the fluctuating late-night relationship of illustrator Lisa and Danny who's a
04:01 socially anxious journalist, imagine that. So that will be on Apple TV from
04:06 Friday. Then over the weekend proper we have the Windsor's Secrets of the Royal
04:12 Tours coming to Channel 4 at 6.45 p.m. and then four episodes weekly. The series
04:19 follows royal tours and state visits to far-flung places across the globe and
04:25 sort of offers a glimpse into the lives of the royal family abroad from the 40s
04:31 to present times. As you may imagine it's not my thing but I'm sure there's plenty
04:35 of royalists out there that will enjoy it. And then I've saved the best till last.
04:40 I should mention the Great British Bake Off returns on Tuesday on Channel 4.
04:47 This season sees Alison Hammond replace Matt Lucas as presenter and as
04:54 always there'll be plenty of lovable contestants trying to bake their way to
04:59 a Paul Hollywood handshake. Try saying that ten times fast. Well that's all
05:05 from me this week. Join me again next week for more weekend watch
05:08 recommendations. Thank you very much.
