Residents are on high alert as firefighters battle a blaze on a hill near Townsville, in Queensland.

Residents located in Serene Court, Julago, and Elliot Springs, just South of Townsville, have been told to be ready to leave as the Queensland RFS battle a bushfire just above their homes.
